About our Graduate Program
APD is seeking applications from passionate graduate and postgraduate students for the 2024/25 Graduate Positions looking to develop their knowledge in the Renewable Energy sector, learning alongside our Power System team based in Brisbane. The Graduate Program offers a competitive wage, and the successful candidates will work alongside a team of highly experienced engineers.
Our program provides a highly rewarding experience that exposes you to emerging technologies and analysis techniques, enabling you to become an expert in the industry and an integral part of a team with a reputation for quality and integrity. As part of our team, you will have opportunities to develop extensive technical knowledge and experience in power systems analysis and modelling, renewable energy systems, technical report writing, data analysis, research, and collaboration with team members to deliver projects to a high industry standard.
Some of the key skills and aptitudes you will be developing in our program are to:
- Conduct power systems analysis and modelling using software such as PSS/E, PSCAD, and PowerFactory
- Assist in the design and development of renewable energy systems, including solar, wind, and battery storage
- Support the preparation of technical reports, presentations, automation scripts
- Perform data analysis and provide technical recommendations based on findings
- Collaborate with team members to ensure project deadlines are met and deliverables are of a high standard
- Conduct research on industry trends, standards and regulations and effectively communicate updates to the wider team
- Develop extensive technical knowledge and experience
- Get exposure to what it takes working on some of Australia’s biggest and most exciting renewable energy projects. These projects will directly impact Australia’s transition to a renewable energy future, with a focus on the connection of renewable generators and integrating energy storage to the NEM.

What You Will Bring To The Team
We’re seeking a highly motivated and passionate individual who shares our commitment to shaping the future of the energy industry. The ideal candidate will have a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Power Systems Engineering or Renewable Energy with a scheduled graduation year of 2024.
We are looking for people who can work well in a team environment, has well-developed communication skills, and can demonstrate the ability to learn new skills used in the delivery of major renewable energy projects. The successful candidate will have legal entitlement to work in Australia.
