APD Engineering conducted an Electromagnetic Fields Study (EMF) of Pernatty substation in South Australia for human health considerations.
APD is one of the leading HV Substations designers in Australia with an experienced in-house team providing the range of required services nationally. Our veteran staff have successfully delivered over 100 HV substation projects with a proven track record on GIS and AIS substations for voltages up to 500kV.
APD Engineering’s Ashwin Maharaj (FIEAust CPEng RPEQ) from our Adelaide office gave an engaging presentation on Tuesday night in Perth on EMC Management for Substations. Judging by the quality of the questions at the end it’s a topic of interest. Thanks to Electric Energy Society of Australia (EESA), Engineers Australia (EA) and Western Power for the venue.
As part of relocating Western Power’s electrical network control centre, APD Engineering were engaged to do design and drafting for upgrades to the telecommunication infrastructure at several of their substations.
APD were engaged by Western Power to complete detailed design & drafting for the new transformer circuit & switchroom at the Rangeway substation, Geraldton, WA
Secondary scope to facilitate reconfiguration of 66kV transmission lines connecting to the Alinta Power Station on the BHP network.
APD Engineering were contracted by Southern Cross Electrical Engineering for the development of the electrical, SCADA and communications design of the new 66/11kV BHP Southtown Substation in Newman, Western Australia.
APD Engineering were engaged by BHP to deliver a Class 4 Desktop-level Cost Estimate (Turnkey delivery model) for two identified sites. Once an option was agreed APD produced a detailed design package for installation of the capacitor bank. The detailed design package included primary, civil and secondary design.
Transgrid engaged APD Engineering to perform Testing & Commissioning (Primary, Secondary & SCADA) and Engineering support on the new Wallerawang 132kV / 66kV Substation, NSW. The Transmission Circuits that have been relocated and modified are assets of TransGrid, Essential Energy, Endeavour Energy and RailCorp.
APD was commissioned by Western Power to perform a Site Inspection, Earthing Design & Drawings, EPR Hazard Assessment on 3rd Party Assets and Current Injection Testing in the Perth CBD, WA. This is in preparation for a new 132kV underground cable planned for installation between two key zone substations.
APD were contracted by Rio Tinto to carry out detailed protection studies on the HV kiosk sub and downstream LV DBs, and assess the potential hazard to personnel due to the occurrence of an Arc Flash as part of the incorporation of the new substation into the West Angelas electrical network.
