Our power system team have extensive experience in providing specialised engineering services to a wide range of clients, from new network connections studies to network expansion planning, operation optimisation and transient stability analysis. Equipped with the latest software and test/measurement devices, we have the knowledge, experience and capability to undertake highly specialised studies that involve power stations, transmission and distribution networks, and internal facility/building reticulation. We have assisted the clients at various stages of the project, from the high-level conceptual plan through to the detailed design to on-site testing, system analysis and documentation for T&D utilities across Australia.
We also have extensive experience in assessing, designing and connecting new infrastructure (large loads or generation units) to transmission/distribution networks. We have assisted clients with internal electrical design as well as performing analysis on the final design. We offer a wide range of services from load flow, short-circuit, protection grading and arc flash studies, as well as earthing design, network transient and harmonics analysis of power systems to ensure your installation is compliant.
APD have proven record of undertaking thorough system reliability assessments and network configuration optimisation under normal and contingency scenarios. Our team have also conducted a range of power quality investigations including harmonic load-flow analysis, power factor correction and filter design.
Our power system team have extensive experience in protection design and planning and can analyse new and existing networks under fault-case scenarios, including arc flash, to identify and fix any protection co-ordination issues. We can also design robust system settings to ensure the safety of personnel, operations and equipment. We can review your network, carry out audits and compliance checks and perform other assessments to ensure optimal network operation. We can also assist with preparation of the relay electronic settings (including IEC 61850 mapping), upload the relay settings on site and carry out primary/secondary injection testing to prove the correct functionality of the unit and the protection/measurement circuits.
Finally, we can provide a comprehensive range of transient stability analysis services, to transient and small-signal stability indices of the network, available transfer capacity, alternate contingency back-feeding configurations and impacts of the load growths and/or new generation units on the dynamic stability of the network.
