APD appoints Ashwin Maharaj as Manager, Substations / Principal Engineer (SA)
APD is pleased to announce the appointment of Ashwin Maharaj to our Adelaide office as Manager, Substations / Principal Engineer. Ashwin is a Fellow of Engineers Australia and Chartered Professional Engineer with 20 years of experience across various engineering, projects and leadership roles; the last 10 years of which was spent at ElectraNet is South Australia and the previous 10 years spent at Eskom in South Africa.
During this time, Ashwin has been responsible for designing, planning, managing and leading projects, some valued in the hundreds of millions of dollars. With a solid engineering background, he has most recently been responsible technical governance, and stewardship of ElectraNet’s design standards, as well as leading several transformational change projects.
Ashwin is known as an ‘Industry Expert’ in power engineering; generating sustainable cost-savings, efficiency improvements, and conducting in-depth investigations for major asset failures. Ashwin has had key achievements in developing and implementing strategy, process, business improvements and organisational change; and notably was the Project Manager responsible to deliver four 765kV substations as part of Eskom’s 765kV Supergrid Capital Expansion Program.
